Oven baked poutine

Ingredients

Fries:

  • 5 potatoes, washed
  • 2 tablespoons (15 milliliters) olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 milliliters) paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 milliliters) onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 milliliters) garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 milliliters) oregano
  • Salt

Gravy:

  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) whole butter
  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240 milliliters) beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) soy sauce

To serve:

  • 1/2 cup (120 milliliters) cheese curds

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F (205 C).

Fries:

  1. Cut the potatoes into medium-sized fries.
  2. In a large bowl, toss cut potatoes with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano and salt.
  3. Transfer potatoes to a lined baking sheet and spread out evenly. Bake in oven for twenty-five minutes or until golden brown.

Gravy:

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan, add flour, cook, stirring often until brown.
  2. Add beef stock and continue to cook and stir until thickened. Add soy sauce to finish. 

To serve:

  1. In a serving dish, place fries, top with cheese curds, cover all with gravy and serve immediately.
